Reasons For Balancing
A rotor can have material buildup (dirt or grease on fans) or material loss (erosion on material moving fans), bearing wear that affects the center of rotation (severely worn parts need to be replaced before balancing), shaft distortion due to residual stress relaxation, structural changes, or speed increases. This causes vibration that will result in premature failure of bearings and other machine components. It can also result in cracks and other structural defects that could cause catastrophic failure.
The purpose of our dynamic field balancing services is to reduce centrifugal forces that cause damage or discomfort to people near the vibration.
Why & When Would You Choose Field Balancing Services?
Our Field Balancing Services can correct unbalance on in-service equipment right at your facility. This is done by attaching weights or grinding and drilling away material.
Balancing in the field – in the rotor’s existing bearings and mounting structure under normal operating conditions can sometimes have a better end result. Lower vibration amplitudes due to unbalance may be achieved with field balancing due to the structural conditions when the rotor is in place.
We also offer shop balancing services for parts you can ship to us.
As long as there is access to the rotor, dynamic balancing in the field eliminates the need to remove, transport to a balancing shop and reassemble a machine, which is very labor intensive and costly.
